What do you like most about the AMA?

I have enjoyed the people and friendships I have made since joining.  Last semester was my first time being part of AMA and what drew me in was how friendly and helpful everyone on E-Board was, which motivated me to join E-Board.  Due to my long commute, I didn't know many people at UMD, so AMA allowed me to branch out and meet other students.

What are some of your hobbies, interests and career goals?

I am very much into sports such as basketball, baseball, football and hockey.  I have played basketball competitively since I was three years old.  I have also helped coach youth basketball teams in the recent years.  I also am passionate about singing and volunteering in my community to help others.

Being a junior, I am not certain about the specific type of marketing I want to pursue.  I have known my whole life that I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me not only to express my creativity, but help others in the process.  I am leaning towards either working for an advertising agency that directly works with non-profits or going into event planning/sports marketing.

How do you think your experience on E-Board and being a member of AMA has prepared you for your professional career?

This organization has provided me with invaluable opportunities.  The networking events and workshops that AMA hosts have allowed me to learn more about what the marketing industry entails currently and how to tailor my skills to meet those needs.  Working on various marketing strategies to help businesses last semester allowed me to gain real-world marketing experience.  In addition, networking with with individuals at different companies not only has helped me meet potential recruiters, it also improved my interview and communication skills.  I will be more prepared and confident applying for internships in the future.
