Andrew Piszar

What is your major and when do you plan on graduating?

I am a Marketing Major with a Minor in Applied Statistics.

What marketing/digital marketing do you enjoy learning about or are very interested in?

I am particularly interested in marketing research and using data analytics to aid marketing efforts.

How long have you have been a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA)?

I joined AMA in the Fall of 2018.

Why did you originally join the AMA?

I found AMA to be a great way to both develop myself professionally and make new friends with similar interests.

What is your position on Executive Board (E-Board), what does it entail, and what do you like most about your position?

As Vice President of Professional Development, I am the main point of contact between our chapter and outside companies. Additionally, I am responsible for planning several AMA events. This semester, I helped organize workshops, a guest speaker, and our upcoming “Day in Detroit”. I also help lead our pro bono efforts for New Mandarin Garden. My favorite part of my position is being able to reach out and plan things with real industry professionals.

Why do you like AMA and E-Board so much?

AMA has a great balance between social and professional events.

How has being a member of AMA and E-Board benefited your personal/professional life?

E-Board has helped me develop my professional skills and push myself outside my comfort zone. It’s great working with a group of people who have different skills and backgrounds.

How do you think AMA benefits members and why do you think people should join?

People should join AMA if they are hoping to make friends and learn about all the different aspects of marketing. The company tours, workshops, and guest speakers help prepare members for their lives beyond UM-Dearborn.

What do you want to do after graduation (specific job, career, etc.)?

I hope to pursue a career in marketing research or data analytics.
