What is your major and when do you plan on graduating?
I am majoring in Business Studies and Political Science. My expected graduation is Winter 2021.
What marketing/digital marketing do you enjoy learning about or are very interested in?
I am most interested in understanding how the same piece of content can be manipulated across different platforms to create content for different audiences. I like learning about how to work with the various algorithms of these different platforms to actually get that content to the audiences you’re trying to reach. Unconventional platforms like Apple Podcasts and Overcast present unique challenges, for example.
How long have you have been a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA)?
I’ve been a part of AMA since Winter 2018.
Why did you originally join the AMA?
I originally joined AMA because my friends were a part of it. I was never a Marketing major, but I was always interested in the stuff they were working on. The event that really got me hooked is when AMA did a career prep workshop where we took professional head-shots and practiced interviews.
What is your position on Executive Board (E-Board), what does it entail, and what do you like most about your position?
I am the VP of Communications, and I write the emails that go out every week! My favorite part of the job is choosing the GIF at the end of each one!
Why do you like AMA and E-Board so much?
I love how diverse the general body and Executive Board both are because I learn a lot about the different fields in the College of Business. It’s a great learning opportunity and I highly recommend applying next term!
How has being a member of AMA and E-Board benefited your personal/professional life?
I have learned a lot about how an organization of this size should be operated, so I’ve been able to apply that with internships and jobs. Furthermore, my LinkedIn and resume are so much better because of how many people have looked it over for me.
How do you think AMA benefits members and why do you think people should join?
The most important thing in this field is having a vast network and every single member of this organization is a valuable lead. I’m not even a COB student, but I’ve already made use of some connections I made in this organization for different projects I work on outside of school.
What do you want to do after graduation (specific job, career, etc.)?
I want to be a lawyer and go into public service in some way. I don’t know what I’m doing yet, but I know where I have to start!
